Destination Next – Wechselburg.
To decide on the destination next is never easy. It wasn’t easy this time either. I found out about this location accidentally, by scrolling through the beautiful Instagram images of Saxony regions. And there it was, a very old looking, but at the same time very powerful stance viaduct bridge. At first, I thought it is somewhere far away from Leipzig, as I never seen any pictures of it before (and you know these days it is hard to hide anything from tourists and their cameras). However, to my big surprise, this wonderful gem was situated really close to my location, only within 40 minutes drive.
Not long after, I was already sitting in a car with this adventurous couple – Lilla & Benni – who was as excited to explore this fascinating area as I was. The only plan we had was to go and see the viaduct of Göhren, the rest we thought will be a pure spontaneous exploration. From first sight, it wasn’t easy to spot the bridge, it was perfectly blended into nature with its’ pale sand colors. Once we got closer, we realized that the reason why we didn’t spot the bridge was because of how enormously great it was, towering above the trees from far away it looked like some nature wall, “filling the gaps” between the trees. But it was truly something. Not many words could describe it. I saw the eyes of Lilla & Benni suddenly lighting up, only confirming my destination choice. A few minutes later we were already out of the car at the so seemed to be the best view spot, appreciating viaduct’s grace. So magical and charming.
After the viaduct “hypnosis”, we decided to go and explore further, simply drive and look for anything interesting on the way (truly the best way to travel). Maybe only a few kilometers later, we found ourselves attracted to these beautiful cows in the meadow. They were covered in light and dark brown blemishes (I think it’s called mottled cows), almost looking unreal, like drawn for the children books. After a few seconds, I heard my favorite phrase people say in adventure photoshoots: “Stop the car and let’s go closer!”. So that’s what we did. We ran like the small children into the green meadow towards the herd of cows.
…and it was so much fun! Lilla & Benni were super excited to get as close as possible to these beauties. What a great adventure!
On the road again
So we continued our way through the unknown lands searching for something eye-catching. We made a short stop to explore the green fields…
Then went on a little hike in the refreshing forest…
…and then finally reached our last destination. In fact, initially we never planned to stop there, but what caught our eye, was this Mars-like red area with some rocks and sand piles. It was of course, all fenced and protected with signs of private area…but as we were in the mood for some adventures, we chose to ignore the signs, and sneaked in through the hole in the fence.
With the sun going down we decided it’s time to leave the place. Also maybe because we didn’t want to be noticed by someone while being in the forbidden area. In any way, it was enough adventures for the day, and the exhaustion started to kick in. Of course, as always, we finished the photoshoot by taking a selfie together, this time in front of the enclosed area sign (total badasses).
Have a nice day,
Justina Smile :)))
